Set against the backdrop of 1950s rock ‘n roll style music, you will be taken back to Rydell High School in 1959. Sandy Dumbrowski, the new girl in town, and Danny Zuko, the school’s coolest greaser, have a secret summertime romance - but when they get back to school, everything is different. Sandy attempts to navigate the tricky Rydell High School social waters and catch Danny’s attention again, but Danny is chiefly concerned with maintaining his tough-guy reputation. In the end, the Pink Ladies help Sandy figure out how to win back the gang leader.
Created in 1971 by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease played 3,388 times in Broadway during its first run and received 7 Tony Awards nominations. In 1974, Grease was performed in London’s West End, and four years later the film adaptation came to be. The eponymous movie is often cited as the most popular musical film. Success has not died down since. The musical has been back to Broadway and the West End as well as touring extensively around the world. Cayman Drama Society is delighted to present the show to entertain Cayman audiences.
